MUMBAI: Mumbai reported 421 new coronavirus infections and five fresh fatalities on Friday, taking the tally of Covid-19 cases to 7,52,807 and the death toll to 16,202, a civil official said.
For the third day in a row, the financial capital has reported more than 400 Covid-19 cases.
A day before, the city had witnessed 421 Covid-19 cases and five fatalities. On Wednesday, 473 cases and four deaths were registered.
The official said the city is left with 4,461 active Covid-19 cases after 490 patients were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours, taking the number of recoveries to 7,29,621.
As many as 38,242 new Covid-19 tests were conducted, pushing their cumulative number to 1,11,34,004, he said.
Presently, Mumbai has 37 sealed buildings, while the city is free of containment zones in slums and ‘chawls’ (old row tenements) since mid-August, the official said.
He said Mumbai’s coronavirus recovery rate is 97 per cent.
The city’s case doubling rate is 1,375 days, while the average growth rate of cases was 0.05 per cent between October 15 and October 21, the official said.
This year, Mumbai reported the highest cases at 11,163 on April 4, while most deaths at 90 were recorded on May 1 during the second wave of the pandemic.
